Why is New York 's laws so difficult to adopt and what can we do to change this, please if anyone has ideas or knows of something we all can do to change the laws? We just want to adopt and start our family and there are so many babies who need a family, but because of New York laws there are so many agencies who will not work with them and it is not fair to us, any advice would be helpful.

Hi Hopefulangel

We are in NY too - and opted for domestic private adoption. Have you considered that option to advertise on your own so that you would not need an agency? Could end up cheaper in the long run - although no guarantees.

Thats what we did - we were certified in July and brought our son home in September.

In defense of NY - I think the spirit of the law is to make things as safe as possible for the NY residents. I know its a pain but there are alot of agencies that are NYS certified. A lot of the major ones are.

Good Luck.
